PayPal
iPhone App:
PayPal released the iPhone app, which introduces
a number of new features. Most interesting was the integration of the “bump to
communicate” feature first introduced by the Bump app (which you might remember
as the billionth download from the App Store). The PayPal app allows you to
send money to another person by simply entering an amount and gently “bumping”
your iPhone against theirs.
The app also came with several fewer physical
updates and additions, including a pleasant look and feel, the ability to use
more of PayPal’s features (such as requesting and withdrawing money), and a
“Split the Check” function that automatically calculates tips, split a bill,
and requests payment from each of your dinner companions’ for their share.
bump phone to send/receive money
Integrated the ‘bump’ feature for PayPal
The Bump feature in PayPal's 2008 iPhone
app allows users to transfer funds between their PayPal accounts by putting two
iPhones together. Before initiating the transfer, each user confirms what they
want to send to the other user. To start the transfer, the two users physically
bump their phones together.
Bump Technologies launched in 2008 and is located
in Mountain View, CA.
Bump Technologies worked with PayPal in
March 2010 to create a PayPal iPhone application. The application, which allows
two users to automatically activate an Internet transfer of money between their
accounts, found widespread adoption.A similar version was released for Android
in August 2010
